The event, held April 8, 2008, at the historic DeBary Hall stables, featured Derek Ingram, director of broadcasting and media relations for the Daytona Cubs, as keynote speaker. He stressed that success is not possible without giving back to the community and schools.

"Our success is recorded every single day and we all look to be great communicators," Ingram said.

While introducing the nominees (listed below), Mary Harowski, APR, TMH Consulting, said she wished she could read some of the glowing comments the nominating forms included about the potential winners. The words included, "leader, dedicated and tireless."

"You all have considerable talents and achievements," Harowski said.

Many thanks to the panel of judges, including past Great Communicators; and to the event committee chaired by Vickie Pleus, APR.
