Highlights from the December, 2007 social

Milestone members recognized at FPRA Holiday Social

The Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association rang in the holidays by recognizing members who have been in the association five, 10 15 and 20 years. Games and door prizes added to the festive atmosphere at Tavern in the Garden, Port Orange, December 12.

Past president Kate Holcomb, APR, with Hudson Technologies, was presented with a certificate for 20 years of valuable service to the FPRA chapter. Three other members hit membership milestones; Michelle Coats, APR, Volusia County Government, 10 years; and Jill Meridith, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and David Talley, Daytona International Speedway, five years. Pam Hamlin, vice president of membership for the chapter, also read the names of long term members who were in-between the recognized years.

“It’s great to be a member of the oldest association for PR professionals in this state,” Hamlin said as she presented the certificates.

The ceremony and picturesque venue were new parts of the December event, but officers also honored a longstanding tradition of photographing the attending group of former chapter presidents.

More than 30 members enjoyed the hospitality of the Tavern, the incredible food and, most especially, the friendships garnered within this very exciting and unpredictable profession.

Special thanks go to Cindi Brownfield, vice president of programs, for coordinating holiday games and mixers; to Chantel Roy for arranging the gorgeous Tavern in the Garden for the event; and to members who contributed 100 canned goods to our holiday food drive.
